Underwriter - Hybrid

The role requires on‑site presence four days a week (Tuesday–Thursday or as needed) with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. Analyze risk information to determine coverage, pricing, and terms. Collaborate with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain necessary data and clarify details. Order additional reports (e.g., motor vehicle reports, loss history, outside inspections) to inform underwriting decisions. Maintain proper documentation of underwriting decisions and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Assess existing policies for potential renewal or modification and communicate decisions clearly to internal teams, agents, and brokers. Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions. Develop and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers to attract and retain profitable business. Interpret, explain, and market products and services. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 6 months of related insurance experience. Professional designation preferred (AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, ARM). Work under moderate supervision; possess knowledge of company policies and industry laws. Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, negotiation, and decision‑making skills. Occasional travel required. Position is non‑exempt in California and Washington.
