Dental AssistantAssists dentist during examination and treatment of patients within the scope of those duties permitted by the state of New Jersey. The incumbents in this job have routine access to individually identifiable health information including the patients' entire medical records on a need-to-know basis only. All employees of NCHC are responsible to practice good risk management, quality assurance, and deliver excellent internal and external customer service. All employees must understand and exemplify the organization's mission, vision, and core values.Obtain patient medical history and vital signs; record information in dental chart.Assists dentist's chair side during examination and treatment of patients.Prepare operatory instruments and supplies for the treatment procedure(s).Seat and prepare patients for treatment.Prepare restorative materials and cements as required and pass instruments to the dentist as requested.Records notes and data in dental chart.Take, develop, mount, record and file radiographs.Dismisses patients and disinfects the operatory between patients.Provides post-operative/surgical instructions as required.Maintains an inventory of supplies including placement of orders.Cleans and organizes dental equipment daily.Clean, sterilize and maintain dental equipment by the appropriate method and return them to the proper drawers or trays.Monitor laboratory cases by logging those leaving and returning to the health center.Pours stone or plaster models and assist the dentist with the dental laboratory as needed.Cleans and maintain the dental laboratory: vacuums machine, x-ray equipment and autoclaves.Monitor sterilization equipment with biological indicators.Maintains daily log of patient encounters.Daily check in/out of patient encounters.Maintains monthly UDS report.Assist in the reception area as needed.All employees of NCHC are responsible to perform their job while practicing good risk management, providing quality assurance, and delivering excellent internal and external customer service.Qualifications:• High school diploma or general education degree (GED). • Successful completion of an accredited dental assistant program and/or certified through DANB or another nationally recognized organization preferred. • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • A radiology license issued by the state of New Jersey or will be testing in 4 months for certification. • CBSPD Certification or will be testing in 1 year for certification.As a condition of employment, we require that all staff are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Therefore, all new employees need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as boosters when eligible, and are required to provide documentation of receiving COVID-19 vaccines.
