Estimator

We are a local custom home builder headquartered in the Charlotte area. We focus on high-end/luxury custom home building and renovations. We specialize in new construction, but we do take on high end remodel projects from time to time. Most of our work stays within the Charlotte Metro area, but we do have projects that can stretch out to the Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Columbia, and Hickory areas. We currently have lots in multiple local communities including properties off of Quail Hollow and Meyers Park. 

Requirements

 

• Proven experience as an estimator in custom home construction or high-end residential building.

• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans.

• Proficiency with construction estimating software (e.g., Buildertrend, ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam).

• Solid understanding of residential building systems, materials, and local building codes.

• Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills for working with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously.

• Preferred: background in construction management, architecture, or related field.

What you will be doing

 

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for custom residential construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work.

• Reviewing architectural plans, engineering drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and cost impacts.

• Soliciting and evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate pricing and scope alignment.

• Creating takeoffs and quantity assessments using estimating software and digital plan tools.

• Collaborating with project managers, designers, and clients to refine budgets and value-engineering options.

• Updating estimates based on design changes, site conditions, and client selections.

• Maintaining cost databases, historical pricing, and market trend insights to improve estimate accuracy.
