Role Description This full‑time, on‑site Physician Assistant role is based in Houston, TX and supports orthopedic surgeons in delivering high‑quality patient care. Daily responsibilities include conducting patient histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and assisting in treatment planning for acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. The Physician Assistant will participate in pre‑operative and post‑operative care, assist in surgical procedures as appropriate, and perform wound care, casting, splinting, and joint injections under supervision and per credentialing. The role also involves documenting encounters in the medical record, providing patient education on diagnoses, procedures, and rehabilitation plans, coordinating follow‑up care, and collaborating closely with surgeons, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. The position requires adherence to all clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and practice policies, while contributing to a positive, efficient patient experience in both clinic and hospital settings. Qualifications Current Physician Assistant licensure in the state of Texas and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; NCCPA certification strongly preferred. Clinical skills in orthopedic assessment and management, including musculoskeletal examinations, recognition of common orthopedic conditions, and participation in pre‑ and post‑operative care. Comfort with minor procedures relevant to orthopedics, such as casting, splinting, basic wound care, and assisting in injections and other in‑office interventions. Strong diagnostic and decision‑making abilities, including appropriate use and interpretation of imaging and laboratory studies in coordination with supervising surgeons. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation, patient education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary care teams. Ability to manage a fast‑paced clinical schedule, prioritize tasks, and maintain attention to detail while providing compassionate, patient‑centered care. Commitment to ethical practice, compliance with regulatory and safety standards, and ongoing professional development in orthopedic and surgical care. Previous experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, or surgical specialties is highly beneficial; new graduates with strong interest in orthopedics may be considered.
