Summer School Nurse Teacher

Location: Registration Center

Program Dates: July 1 - August 14, 2026

Hours: Mon-Fri 9:05AM– 3:25PM

Pay: Daily rate of pay (Contingent upon Funding)

Under the direction of the Director of Student Registration and Placement and/or appropriate supervisor, the summer School Nurse Teachers will assist in the registration process by reviewing the medical records of incoming students for all necessary immunizations and/or physical exams.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in school nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Current license to practice as a registered nurse.
• Successful experience as a registered nurse for a minimum of 3 years.
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certified.

RIDE Requirements:

• School Nurse Teacher Certificate.

ESL Preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited teacher education program.
• Prior experience in a nursing position, especially in an urban setting (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Ability to work under pressure.

PK-12 Nurse must have:

• CPR Certification First Aid Certification.
• Valid Rhode Island driver's license.
• Current Healthcare Provider Insurance required.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES:

• Review health records of all registrants.
• Monitor general health of all incoming registrants.
• Collect, record, and maintain data for registration center.
• Must commit to working every day.
• Must currently be working in the area of certification for which the applicant is applying.
• Must be familiar with school policy and discipline procedures.
• Must be familiar with emergency procedures. Must be able to work with counselor, placement and clerical staff.
• Must be knowledgeable of State rules and regulations as they pertain to immunizations and other health requirements needed in order for students to attend public schools.
• Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively utilize technology.
