Big Data Engineer

Big Data EngineerApex Systems has an immediate need for Data Engineer to be part of a market surveillance team, ready for a large financial project roll out. The position is a long term contract-to-hire basis, with a competitive hourly compensation. Successful candidates must have strong big data engineering skills with Spark on any cloud platform including Python, Scala, and Java.Daily Responsibilities:Collaborate with Data Analysts and Business Analysts to understand requirementsCreate algorithms + ML models based on business requirements to detect anomaliesHelp Data Scientists to optimize preexisting modelsRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline with at least seven (7) years of related experience, or equivalent training and/or work experience; Master’s degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred. Past experience with developing enterprise quality solutions in an iterative or Agile environment. Experience with one or more programming languages like Scala, Python, and/or Java. Clear, effective communication with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to push the frontier of technology and independently pursue better alternatives. Ability to maintain focus and develop proficiency in new skills rapidly. Ability to utilize problem solving skills in a fast paced environment. Exposure to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud is preferred. Understanding of ML/AI technologies is preferred.
