Meal Preparation Assistant

This position assists with the preparation and cooking of daily meals to assist the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) with carrying out the mission of the Senior Nutrition Program's congregate and home delivered meals for older adults. This position works 1-2 days a week from 4:30am - 11am.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with food preparation under the direction of the cook; including large quantity cooking and baking, prepping side dishes, preparing the salad bar, etc.
• Assisting with packaging individual meals for Meals on Wheels and packaging bulk food for appropriate agencies; ensure Meals on Wheels drivers receive in a timely manner.
• Maintaining compliance with food handling safety standards and sanitation procedures; reporting unsafe conditions, hazardous equipment or accidents immediately.
• Maintaining food storage, work areas, and associated spaces in a clean and safe condition according to established policies and procedures.
• Washing and sanitizing dishes, counters, and kitchen equipment assuring Health Department standards of sanitation and safety are met at all times.
• Routinely cleaning stoves, steamtables, oven equipment, refrigerator, freezer, floors, etc.
• Maintaining orderly and safe storage of food and supplies.
• Assisting in the training of other food service personnel, as requested.
• Attending required staff meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

• High school diploma/equivalent and previous cooking or food prep experience in a high-volume food service setting.
• ServSafe certification required within six (6) months from date of hire.
• Experience in quantity cooking and recipe development.
