ASAP A Substitute Paraprofessional , also known as a Substitute Teacher Assistant , plays a crucial role in educational settings. Here are the key duties and qualifications for this position:

1. Duties and Responsibilities :
   • Understanding the daily schedule : Substitute paraprofessionals familiarize themselves with the daily routine and tasks that need completion.
   • Individualized instruction : Providing extra assistance and instruction to individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons.
   • Behavior intervention : When students exhibit problem behaviors, substitute paraprofessionals intervene and model good behavior for the entire class.
   • Supervision during activities : They supervise students during outside recess, lunch in the cafeteria, and other activities.
   • Clerical tasks : Assisting with administrative duties, such as taking attendance and calculating grades.
   • Supporting therapists : In school settings, they aid therapists who work with students.
   • Data collection : Collecting data and compiling reports.
2. Qualifications :
   • High school diploma or GED, along with two years of post-secondary education or the ability to meet state requirements.
   • Interest in working with children.
   • Consistent supervision skills and good role modeling.
   • Patience and previous successful experience working with elementary school students is preferred.
