Refrigeration Engineer

SHIFT: Wednesday - Sunday 2:30PM - 11:00PM Responsible for hands-on maintenance of HVAC systems and related auxiliary equipment. Perform tasks that include installing, troubleshooting, repairing, adjusting, cleaning, greasing and replacing equipment, parts and supplies. Maintain the Shop and tools, work orders, logs and inventories. Report to the Manager of the HVAC Shop.
Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education: Associate's Degree Some college education in engineering and/or a completion certificate from a recognized trade school; familiarity with PC.
Required Experience: 3+ years mechanical maintenance experience with absorption/freon A/C equipment and stream/related heating systems.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong knowledge/skills in mechanical systems; intermediate knowledge/skills in electrical and plumbing systems; working knowledge/skills of refrigeration cycle, common parts, pneumatic/electric/electronic control systems; basic knowledge of brazing, soldering, insulation, measuring, carpentry and sheet metal; basic knowledge of safety standards/regulation, current CFC regulation, physics and math; ability to read blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and nameplates; good communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; New York City Refrigeration Engineer's license and EPA-CFC Universal certification.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is $47.754. This rate is based on the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
