Paid Family Caregiver - Colorado Medicaid - No Experience Needed, Training Provided

Colorado Medicaid can pay you to care for your mom, dad, spouse or close friend at home. Here is exactly how, in four steps.

The Four Steps

1. They need Health First Colorado (Colorado Medicaid). No coverage yet? The application asks for one month of income proof and two months of bank statements. Apply at colorado.gov/PEAK or View phone number on click.appcast.io, or we do it with you.

2. A Case Management Agency sets the hours. Answer every question completely and accurately. Many families leave out things they do every day without thinking.

3. They choose Mercy. Only agencies on Colorado's approved IHSS provider list can do this. Mercy is on it.

4. You join Mercy.

Worth Knowing

How long does it take?

Medicaid active and assessment done: days to a few weeks. Starting from nothing: a few months.

Can I be paid for care I've already given?

No. Pay starts once the care plan and prior authorization are approved. That is the reason to start now.

Can I be paid to care for my husband?

Yes. Colorado allows a spouse. A close friend can be chosen too.

What if she needs more hours than one person can be paid for?

We hire a second caregiver from your family. The income stays in the house.

The Job

Bathing, dressing, the bathroom, getting around safely, meals, light housekeeping and medication reminders. You clock in and out on your phone.

You're 18 or older, authorized to work in the U.S., able to pass a background check, and caring for someone who needs hands-on help every day.

About Mercy

Compensation

Up to about $70,000 a year, depending on the hours authorized. Paid weekly.

Benefits: paid sick leave, earned at one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours a year. Training provided by Mercy.
