Job Description

The Mechanical Technician assembles water filtration machines, including both sub-assemblies and complete systems, using mechanical, pneumatic, and hand tools. This role involves working from blueprints and schematics, cutting and gluing PVC pipe, installing pumps and instruments, and performing basic mechanical testing and troubleshooting in a clean, safety-focused manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble mechanical sub-assemblies and complete water filtration machines according to blueprints and schematics.

• Cut PVC pipe to specified lengths using a saw and other cutting tools, ensuring accurate measurements.

• Glue and deburr PVC pipe and fittings to create clean, reliable connections.

• Assemble and install pumps, fasteners, bolted connections, instruments, and piping components.

• Use measuring devices, including tape measures, to achieve precise dimensions and tolerances.

• Operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical assembly tasks.

• Work directly from blueprints and mechanical drawings to interpret dimensions, layouts, and assembly sequences.

• Perform basic mechanical testing and troubleshooting to verify proper function of assembled equipment.

• Move products and materials to and from machines and workstations as needed to support production flow.

• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in alignment with facility standards.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical assembly or construction-type work.

• At least 1 year of experience using a tape measure and other basic measuring devices.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.

• Proficiency with mechanical assembly using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and power tools.

• Experience with mechanical testing and basic troubleshooting of assembled equipment.

• Capability to use a saw and other cutting equipment safely and accurately.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when measuring, cutting, and assembling components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with PVC pipe, including cutting, gluing, and deburring, is preferred.

• Familiarity with assembling pumps, piping, and instrumentation in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Comfort working from schematics and detailed assembly documentation.

• Ability to move and handle materials safely within a large manufacturing facility.

• Commitment to following safety protocols and maintaining a clean workspace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minnetonka, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
