Johnson & Johnson seeks an experienced Senior Trademark & Copyright Counsel to manage global intellectual property matters for MedTech businesses spanning cardiovascular, surgery, and vision sectors. The role involves trademark prosecution, copyright licensing, enforcement actions, and strategic business counseling while reporting to the Assistant General Counsel.
Responsibilities
- Manage trademark clearance, prosecution, maintenance, enforcement, and copyright domain name matters globally
- Provide strategic trademark and copyright counseling to brand, marketing, and business teams
- Handle trademark and copyright conflicts, contentious proceedings, and enforcement matters worldwide
- Support commercial transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, and negotiation of IP-related agreements
- Educate business partners on best practices and develop policies to improve compliance
Requirements
- JD from ABA-accredited law school with excellent academic record and state bar admission
- Minimum 8 years trademark and copyright experience in law firms or in-house departments
- Expertise in trademark clearance, prosecution, conflicts, and international processes
- Knowledge of copyright registration, licensing, and digital content matters
- Proficiency with trademark search and IP portfolio management software
- Medical device, pharmaceutical, or healthcare experience preferred
- Strong independent judgment, collaboration skills, and ability to communicate complex legal issues to business partners
