We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Benefits Specialist to join a Human Resources team. In this role, you will administer and support employee benefit programs, serve as a trusted resource for employees, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong benefits administration experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and coordinate employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, FSA/HSA, and voluntary benefits.
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, life event changes, open enrollment, and general benefits inquiries.
- Serve as the primary liaison between employees and benefit providers to resolve enrollment, claims, and coverage issues.
- Manage employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other leave policies.
- Process benefit enrollments, terminations, and eligibility updates within HRIS and benefits systems.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to ensure accurate employee deductions and vendor billing.
- Prepare benefits reports, compliance documentation, and regulatory filings as needed.
- Support new hire orientation by explaining benefit offerings and eligibility requirements.
- Assist with annual open enrollment planning, communication, and employee education initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Partner with Payroll, Human Resources, and third-party vendors to ensure seamless benefits administration.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in benefits administration, human resources, or a related role.
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs, enrollment processes, and applicable regulations.
- Experience using HRIS, benefits administration, or payroll systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification.
- Experience with FMLA, COBRA, ACA reporting, and leave management.
- Experience working with multiple benefit plans in a mid-sized or large organization.
