Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect resident care within the defined scope of practice. The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care based on the age of the patients served. The individual must understand principles of growth and development and possess the ability to assess data related to patient status. Identifies each patient's requirements and provides appropriate care for adult and geriatric patients.

Job Functions:

• Resident's activities of daily living are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Meet resident hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care needs.
• Documentation is completed as per protocol.
• Maintain resident environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Respond promptly to call lights and alarms.
• Provide safety measures including safety mats and low beds.
• Use restraints under the direction of Nursing, maintain cleanliness of unit, and monitor for malfunctioning equipment.
• Documentation is completed as per protocol.
• Meet resident nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Ensure meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, and feeding as required.
• Honor resident preferences and choices.
• Documentation is completed as per protocol.
• Meet resident rehabilitative needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Assist with range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices.
• Documentation is completed as per protocol.
• Report resident rights, refusals, and concerns to Charge Nurse in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Identify and report changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status to Charge Nurse promptly.
• Potential exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
