Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Help customers discover new items or products they inquire about. Inform customers of food specials and recommend grocery items to ensure they get the products they want and need. Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action. Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers; keep temperature logs. Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products. Create a welcoming environment for customers, making them feel important and appreciated. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs. Notify management of customer or employee accidents. Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve issues. Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
