Associate Medical Director

Position Title Associate Medical Director – Clinical Operations, Carelon Medical Benefits Management Radiology Benefit Management/Utilization Review Schedule Full‑time virtual work with required in‑person training sessions. Responsibilities Ensure timely completion of clinical case reviews for the board‑certified specialty. Make physician‑to‑physician calls to gather information necessary for medical necessity determinations for requested services. Make medical necessity determinations for grievance and appeals appropriate for the specialty. Consistently apply medical policies when making medical necessity decisions. Escalate decisions that require Medical Director review or policy interpretation to supervisors. Minimum Requirements MD or DO with board certification approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Active unrestricted medical license to practice medicine or a health profession. Locations California, Illinois Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $188,051 to $294,910 (depending on location, experience, and other factors).
