Job Title: Sewing Assembler
Job Description
The Sewing Assembler role is a hands-on position focused on precision sewing, assembly, and fabrication of complex medical device components used in life-changing healthcare applications. You will work with very small parts, specialized tools, and manufacturing equipment under magnification to produce high-quality products that meet strict engineering, quality, and regulatory standards. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy intricate, detailed work, have excellent hand dexterity, and take pride in craftsmanship and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Perform precision sewing and assembly operations for medical device components and subassemblies.
- Manufacture small, highly detailed products according to engineering drawings, specifications, and written work instructions.
- Carry out production processes including sewing, cutting, trimming, drilling, measuring, mounting, bonding, and final assembly of components.
- Work under magnification and microscopes to assemble extremely small parts while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
- Inspect work throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality standards and product specifications.
- Use precision hand tools such as tweezers, razor blades, scalpels, wire cutters, clippers, needle-nose pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and magnification equipment including ring lights.
- Operate manufacturing equipment including lab ovens, adhesive and glue dispensing systems, trimming lathes, computer-controlled cutting equipment, heat guns, and other assembly-related tools.
- Track materials, tools, and work-in-process throughout production to ensure accurate inventory and workflow control.
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner using basic computer systems as required.
- Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns, defects, or process issues to leadership or appropriate personnel.
- Follow detailed written instructions, procedures, and manufacturing documentation to ensure consistent and compliant production.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with cleanroom or controlled environment standards.
- Support a regulated manufacturing environment by adhering to all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to continuously improve processes, product quality, and efficiency.
- Work a 1st shift schedule of 6:00 AM–3:00 PM Monday through Thursday (4x9-hour days) and 6:00 AM–10:00 AM on Friday (1x4-hour day).
Essential Skills
- Strong eyesight and the ability to perform highly detailed work under a microscope for extended periods.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precision sewing and assembly tasks.
- Ability to work with very small components and perform repetitive, precision-based work while maintaining focus and quality.
- Experience following detailed work instructions, specifications, and assembly procedures in a production environment.
- Ability to perform manufacturing processes including drilling, cutting, measuring, mounting, bonding, sewing, and precision assembly.
- Comfort using microscopes, magnification equipment, and precision measuring tools.
- Ability to use a variety of precision hand tools including tweezers, razor blades, scalpels, wire cutters, clippers, needle-nose pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and magnification equipment.
- Ability to safely operate assembly equipment such as lab ovens, adhesive and glue dispensing systems, trimming lathes, computer-controlled cutting equipment or saws, and heat guns.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, and quality issues during production.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and track materials, tools, and work-in-process throughout the manufacturing process.
- Comfort performing repetitive, precision-based work in a regulated manufacturing or cleanroom environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for completing production and quality documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in sewing, stitching, embroidery, crochet, upholstery, tailoring, or textile manufacturing.
- Experience in detailed or precision assembly such as electronics assembly, jewelry making, crafting, or other fine hand-assembly work.
- Experience in medical device manufacturing or catheter assembly.
- Experience in electronics assembly or other small-component assembly environments.
- Exposure to precision manufacturing processes and tools.
- Experience working in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with quality inspection and measurement techniques.
- Experience with fine sewing or needlework requiring high accuracy and consistency.
- Comfort working with small hand tools and specialized assembly equipment.
- Ideal candidates may come from sewing, tailoring, embroidery, upholstery, textile manufacturing, electronics assembly, jewelry making, crafting, microscope work, or other precision hand-assembly backgrounds.

Work Environment
This role is based in a clean, safe, climate-controlled production facility in Charlotte, NC, operating on a 1st shift schedule of 6:00 AM–3:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 6:00 AM–10:00 AM on Friday. You will work in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on organization, safety, and quality. The work involves extended periods using microscopes, magnification equipment, and precision measuring tools, along with regular use of small hand tools such as tweezers, scalpels, wire cutters, pliers, and screwdrivers. You will also operate specialized manufacturing equipment including lab ovens, adhesive and glue dispensing systems, trimming lathes, computer-controlled cutting equipment, and heat guns. The environment is professional, structured, and quality-focused, supporting careful, detailed work on small components within a regulated medical device manufacturing setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
