Much of this would be recurring activity (retrieving data and preparing weekly or monthly reports), while other tasks may be more problem-solving in nature (what data can we use to help solve or illuminate this unique problem). This includes but is not limited to the following: •Trend analysis. Another primary responsibility for this position would be to review data, looking for trends or anomalies that may signify a change in the operating environment. •Quality control. Review of data or analyses conducted by self or others to ensure that work is free of errors and that any observations or conclusions drawn from the data are supported by that data. •Database management. All this data has the be stored, maintained, and retrieved. Database management would not be an essential duty, but preferred.Other duties might include:•Development of client-facing reports and/or dashboards•Support travel demand forecasting efforts•Travel pattern analysisWe wish to stress that while these are the initial duties, the work we do for the Tollway covers topics from traditional traffic engineering to ITS, roadway safety, policy, finance, and much more. Any member of the team can be assigned any of these tasks and work will be tailored to suit the interests of each team member as workload allows. Specific Skills•Advanced Excel skills. The ability to perform complex lookups, apply logic functions, develop unique analytical tools, and develop reporting tools.•MS Access. Knowledge of MS Access is extremely helpful. •SQL administration also a huge plus•GIS skills•Technical writing•Coding/automation would ideally be part of this person’s repertoire. With as much data as we are dealing with, automation or more efficient means of analysis would be quite welcome.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning or related discipline. 1 year of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.Skills and AbilitiesBasic knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by all transportation modes, and understanding of current transportation trends/issues. Basic knowledge of government regulations, and agency rules.
