Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) to lead and support nursing staff in delivering exceptional, safe, and high-quality patient care within an emergency department setting. This leadership role requires a blend of clinical expertise, interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster a positive work environment while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to unit-based safety and infection control protocols.
• Engage with patients and families to uphold service excellence standards and address any concerns to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively and professionally, providing conflict resolution when necessary.
• Participate in nursing and organizational policy development, promoting shared accountability for nursing practice and evidence-based care.
• Assume accountability for unit services, meeting goals related to quality, operations, finance, and compliance.
• Advocate for patients by coordinating nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and integrating services across the care continuum.
• Collaborate with various departments to improve workflow, patient flow, and throughput.
• Assist in recruitment, selection, and retention of nursing personnel, addressing ethical issues and ensuring adherence to standards of care.
• Manage staffing and unit schedules, ensuring appropriate personnel utilization based on competencies and patient needs.
• Lead or participate in quality improvement projects and attend relevant committees.
• Evaluate staff performance, provide feedback, coaching, and conduct appraisals as needed.
• Contribute to budget development and monitor productivity standards within the area of responsibility.
• Promote a work environment that minimizes occupational illness and injury.
• Commit to ongoing professional growth and development.
• Demonstrate ability to pronounce expired patients and perform administrative supervisory duties as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years as a Registered Nurse, including at least two years in acute care or a similar setting.
• At least one year of recent charge nurse or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of nursing scope of practice, nursing process, and individualized patient care plans.
• Ability to independently seek resources and collaborate effectively.
• Competent in assessing nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients and their families.
• Proficient with computers and adaptable to new software.
• Capable of providing direct patient care.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (A.D.N.) with seven years of RN experience may be considered in lieu of BSN.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
• National certification in specialty area preferred.
• Additional certifications required depending on unit assignment, including but not limited to: ONS chemotherapy & biotherapy provider, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, PALS, NVCI, and MICN.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidates must pass a physical evaluation, urine drug screen, and pre-employment background checks prior to starting work.

This position is based in a regional healthcare facility serving the Pacific Northwest coastal communities and surrounding areas.
