Physician-Endocrinology

Job Overview

The St. Luke’s Physician provides medical services in the general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings. The physician will offer comprehensive medical services, high quality, cost‑effective care and participate in quality, patient satisfaction and performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Perform history and physical examination of all patients seen.
• Provide cost‑effective, high‑quality care based on evidence‑based medicine.
• Adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines approved by the medical staff.
• Demonstrate competency in assessment, treatment, growth and development knowledge, and age‑appropriate communication.
• Provide timely communication with referring physicians, patients, and families.
• Participate in patient and family education.
• Evaluate and implement patient health care needs.
• Perform routine exams and obtain patient histories.
• Manage patient treatment programs based on assessment of needs.
• Initiate treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams, and procedures.
• Review lab results and plan actions accordingly.
• Perform routine health‑maintenance activities for new and established patients.
• Coordinate patient care and make referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, and other professionals.
• Collaborate and communicate with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care.
• Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate.
• Teach wellness habits and educate patients on prevention of potential health problems.
• Provide information and materials related to patient health care needs.
• Maintain knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
• Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity and ensure proper release of information.
• Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding employee, patient, and environmental safety.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

• Sitting up to three (3) hours per day, in intervals not exceeding three (3) hours.
• Standing up to eight (8) hours per day, in intervals not exceeding eight (8) hours.
• Walking up to six (6) hours per day, in intervals not exceeding one (1) hour.
• Frequent fingering, handling, grasping, twisting, and turning related to therapeutic procedures.
• Consistently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds.
• Occasionally lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 pounds.
• Rarely lift with assistance up to 100 pounds.
• Rarely push and pull patients weighing up to 300 pounds in a wheelchair or stretcher.
• Occasionally stoop and bend.
• Perceive attributes of an object through touch.
• Normal near, far, color, and peripheral vision.
• Normal hearing for conversation and high/low frequencies.

Education and Training

Graduate of an accredited medical school and completion of residency and/or fellowship in the area of specialty.

Experience

Current or recent experience in the area of specialty.

Licenses and Certifications

MD or DO - licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice.

Board Certified or Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board.
