On-Site Research Assistant – Mid-City Los Angeles 9 days ago • Requisition ID: 1372 Salary Range: $20.00 To $22.00 Hourly About CLARE|MATRIX CLARE|MATRIX is a nonprofit organization providing treatment, recovery, and prevention services for alcoholism and substance use to individuals, families, and the community. Headquartered in Santa Monica, CA, CLARE|MATRIX maintains multiple facilities in Southern California. Summary Under supervision, the Research Assistant will provide comprehensive research and evaluation support across various agency grant‑funded program evaluations. This role contributes to the full cycle of program evaluation from data collection and entry through analysis, reporting, and presentation to internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities Research and Data Collection Conduct data collection activities in support of grant‑funded program evaluations, including survey administration, participant interviews, and administration of federal assessments (intake, discharge, follow‑up). Enter project data accurately and timely into customized tracking tools and online platforms; organize and manage large volumes of quantitative and qualitative data. Conduct scholarly research as needed to support evaluation and reporting activities. Reporting Prepare written project summary reports and assist in writing publications derived from evaluation projects. Present data and outcomes to the internal project team and deliver formal presentations to external stakeholders at conferences, symposiums, and community meetings. Coordination and Administrative Support Assist the project team in organizing and facilitating meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and follow‑up documentation. Answer phones and perform general office duties as needed. Cross‑Functional Coordination & Support Work closely with stakeholders to stay current on outstanding findings and resolution priorities. Serve as the primary point of contact for staff regarding documentation correction requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional staff to remove barriers to timely documentation correction. Compliance & Confidentiality Ensure all documentation complies with relevant regulations, company policy, and privacy requirements. Maintain accurate records of compliance monitoring activities and corrective actions taken. Uphold strict confidentiality standards in all aspects of the role. Safety and Compliance Adhere to all CLARE|MATRIX policies, program guidelines, and state, county, local, and federal regulations. Protect participant information by ensuring records, conversations, and electronic data meet HIPAA and organizational privacy standards. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and safety standards, including procedures for incident reporting. Teamwork and Collaboration Communicate effectively, listen actively, and model trauma‑informed and culturally sensitive communication. Attend and participate in staff meetings, case conferences, supervision meetings, trainings, and team‑building activities. Work collaboratively with counselors, peers, case managers, nursing staff, and other program team members. Collaborate with community partners and outside agencies as part of the continuum of care. Support a positive, safe and team‑oriented work environment. Secondary Areas of Responsibility Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, public health, or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the collection, administration, and coordination of project data, both quantitative and qualitative. Experience working in a healthcare or behavioral health setting preferred. Experience working with diverse populations and comfort interviewing individuals experiencing SUD. Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered. Experience supporting clinical or medical staff is a plus. Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Experience Understanding of Substance Use Disorders, recovery principles, and basic mental health considerations. Organizational, verbal, and written skills; ability to manage large volumes of data with attention to detail. Professionalism, appropriate boundaries, cultural responsiveness, and adherence to ethical standards. Emotional maturity, resilience, and strong interpersonal skills for engaging diverse team dynamics. Physical Demands The employee must continuously talk and hear, sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Occasional overhead reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and lift or carry up to 5 pounds may be required. The employee must be able to perform all physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation. Medical History & Screening Participating employees must complete a Health Screening Report or Health Questionnaire and a confidential self‑report health questionnaire in accordance with ADA/FEHA. Employment is contingent upon successful pre‑employment TB screening. Work Environment This position is primarily located in Santa Monica. The employee may work in participant‑accessible areas, group rooms, offices, and other designated program spaces. The environment is fast‑paced and may involve interacting with participants who exhibit challenging behaviors.
