Level I Help Desk Specialist

Chicago, IL (Hybrid) | Contract (Potential Contract-to-Hire)

Position Summary

LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Level I Help Desk Specialist for a hybrid contract opportunity in downtown Chicago, IL. This role provides frontline technical support and customer service to end users, handling help desk calls, troubleshooting, workstation support, and equipment installations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical fundamentals, but what will set you apart is your commitment to exceptional customer service, a proactive communication style, and a genuine passion for helping people solve problems.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 6 days per month onsite in downtown Chicago. Local candidates only.

Schedule

• Shift: 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Weekend coverage approximately once every 6 weeks (Saturday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM). You will have the Friday before and the Friday after the weekend shift off

What You Will Do

• Provide outstanding customer service across all help desk and equipment support interactions
• Receive help desk calls, create trouble tickets, and diagnose problems through discussions with users
• Research problems, isolate root causes, and resolve less complex issues immediately while escalating more complex problems as appropriate
• Document procedures, track and monitor all calls to ensure timely resolution
• Conduct follow-up calls to customers to confirm issue resolution and satisfaction
• Perform installations, changes, and upgrades to user workstations, software, and peripheral equipment
• Assist with software and hardware upgrades and new installations
• Maintain working proficiency in software and applications supported by IT

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in help desk support
• Familiarity with help desk ticketing software (ServiceNow preferred)
• Experience supporting Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Office 365, email, and Active Directory (password resets, new user accounts)
• Exceptional customer service skills with a proactive, collaborative approach to communication
• Strong interpersonal skills with a driven, outgoing, and team-oriented personality
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to function independently
• Must be located in the Chicago metropolitan area
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Third-party and Corp-to-Corp candidates will not be considered for this position.

The base range for this contract position is $18 - $25 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
