Nurse Supervisor / Assistant Director of Nursing

Location: Brooklyn, NY 11206
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Schedule: 37.5 hours per week / 7.5 hours per day

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor / Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to provide clinical leadership and support nursing operations. This role is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing programs focused on improving patient care quality, nursing staff performance, patient safety, and overall clinical outcomes.

The Nurse Supervisor will work closely with Nurse Managers and nursing leadership to monitor clinical operations, evaluate performance indicators, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and implement programs designed to enhance patient care quality and nursing performance.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision to nursing staff.
• Support day-to-day nursing operations and promote adherence to established clinical standards.
• Monitor patient care performance and evaluate applicable quality indicators.
• Collaborate with Nurse Managers and nursing leadership to assess unit and staff performance.
• Identify operational and clinical issues and assist in developing and implementing corrective action plans.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to:
  • Medication errors
  • Employee counseling
  • Performance improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, nursing standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Promote continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Support staff development through coaching, guidance, and performance management.
• Participate in departmental planning, quality improvement programs, and nursing initiatives.
• Assist nursing leadership with identifying opportunities to improve clinical processes and patient outcomes.
• Foster effective communication and collaboration among nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams.

Required Qualifications Education & Experience

Option 1:

• Master's Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 5 years of nursing experience , including at least 3 years of supervisory or teaching experience .

OR

Option 2:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 6 years of nursing experience , including at least 4 years of supervisory or teaching experience .

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license .
• RN license must be verified through Primary Source Verification with the New York State Department of Education (NYSED) .
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) .
