Our network is made up of 14 federally qualified health centers throughout Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan, along with a fleet of mobile vans that bring health services to underserved people in need throughout New York City. POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists dentist during examination and treatment of patients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:
* Prepares patient and patient room for procedures.
* Sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays.
* Prepares materials, and assists dentist during dental procedures.
* Takes and records medical and dental histories of patients.
* Facilitates related services for health center clients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
* Develops and mounts dental diagnostic x-rays.
* Pours, trims and polishes study casts.
* Assists dentist in management of dental emergencies.
* Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs.
* Schedules appointments, generates and closes encounters, prepares bills and receives payment for dental services, completes insurance forms, and maintains clerical records.
* Orders supplies and maintains updated inventory
* Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Certificate/License required:
* High School Diploma or GED
* Certificate of completion of course of study in Dental Assisting.
* Three months or more of related experience and/or training.
