Job Title: LVN / LPN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: LPNs may not assume assignment and act as a resource in GIOF or med/surg. May be utilized as Patient Care Technician. This is a 14-bed overflow unit for several months to accommodate boarder patients. It will be a med/surg tele unit. The number of patients may increase or decrease depending on demand and boarder numbers. RNs are required to have competency with phlebotomy and placing IVs as necessary skills. Skills required include emergency department experience, blood glucose monitoring, feeding tube care, and catheter insertion for both male and female patients. Additional skills include administering medications (ear drops, eye drops, IM & SQ) and caring for enteral tubes. Responsibilities also include patient ambulation, oxygen administration, mouth care, and monitoring vital signs. Effective communication of patient status changes to RNs and MDs is essential. Isolation precautions and proper PPE usage must be adhered to. The team will work with various interdisciplinary support services. Patient diagnoses may vary, requiring adaptability. Candidates must float to care for med/surg patients as needed. Call requirements will depend on staffing needs. Minimal requests for time off will be accommodated. Telemetry monitoring, pressure ulcer assessment, and wound care are among the duties. Candidates will be required to monitor blood product administration and engage in intake and output monitoring. Phlebotomy experience is essential. This position may float based on team requirements.
