Salary Range: $239,000 to $251,000 per year
Position Summary
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager II to lead its Labor and Delivery department. This is a full-time leadership opportunity for a dedicated nursing professional who is passionate about maternal and neonatal care. Core Responsibilities
- Provide direct oversight and daily operational management of the Labor and Delivery unit, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care at all times
- Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate nursing staff, including registered nurses, certified nurse midwives, and nursing assistants
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation strategies to maintain operational efficiency
- Collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive patient care
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, reviewing patient outcomes data and implementing evidence-based changes to clinical protocols
- Ensure full compliance with Joint Commission standards, state nursing regulations, and all applicable federal healthcare requirements
- Manage employee relations matters including performance improvement plans, conflict resolution, and recognition programs
- Participate actively in hospital-wide committees, nursing leadership councils, and strategic planning discussions
- Maintain a visible, approachable presence on the unit to support staff morale and foster a culture of psychological safety and excellence
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California, in good standing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master of Science in Nursing or related healthcare field strongly preferred
- Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience in Labor and Delivery, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, or a closely related specialty
- Minimum of two years of nursing management or formal supervisory leadership experience in an acute care setting
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS certification preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of obstetric emergencies, fetal monitoring, high-risk labor management, and postpartum care protocols
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively
- Proven track record of driving quality improvement and achieving measurable patient safety outcomes
