Expected Duration: Minimum 3 months with strong potential for extension

Schedule: Approximately 37.25 hours per week

Compensation: $50-$60 per hour

Position Summary Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to provide critical interim support during a leadership transition while the CFO position remains open. This individual will partner closely with the Director of Accounting and the Vice President serving as Interim CFO to oversee the month-end close process, support financial reporting, and assist with audit-related activities during an active KPMG audit. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can quickly assess priorities, and is comfortable collaborating with executive leadership while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the month-end close process, including reviewing financial results and ensuring timely completion of close activities.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Perform account reconciliations and detailed account analyses to maintain accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Coordinate and support external audit activities, including responding to auditor requests and preparing required documentation.
• Review consolidation processes and assist with related reporting requirements as needed.
• Conduct technical accounting research and analysis under U.S. GAAP and provide recommendations on complex accounting matters.
• Support general ledger activities and ensure appropriate accounting treatment and documentation.
• Assist with nonprofit tax reporting requirements, including support related to Form 990 and Form 990-T filings.
• Participate in special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc financial analyses.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience.

Demonstrated experience with:

• Full ownership of the month-end close process
• Financial reporting and financial statement preparation
• External audit support and coordination
• Technical accounting and GAAP research
• Form 990 and/or Form 990-T preparation or support within a nonprofit or tax-exempt organization
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while effectively partnering with leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Previous nonprofit or tax-exempt accounting experience.
• Experience supporting Form 990 and Form 990-T filings.
• Prior experience working directly with executive leadership during audits, system implementations, or organizational transitions.
• NetSuite experience preferred.
• Experience working within healthcare or healthcare-related organizations is a plus.
