Ophthalmology Medical Director Compensation: $350k-$450k per year Job Type: Full-Time | Call Schedule of 1:4 (Minimal call burden) We have partnered closely with an award-winning, independent community hospital in Vermont to find a dynamic and visionary Ophthalmology Medical Director . This is a premier leadership and clinical opportunity to step into a thriving, highly collaborative, hospital‑employed practice. You will lead an exceptional, high‑volume team that includes an additional ophthalmologist, a skilled optometrist, and a dedicated, fully supportive staff of Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COAs). Key Responsibilities Serve as the Medical Director for the Ophthalmology practice, guiding clinical protocols, driving quality initiatives, and fostering a collaborative team environment. Maximize efficiency within assigned, dedicated OR blocks in a state‑of‑the‑art procedure center explicitly equipped with updated, modern technology to seamlessly accommodate high‑volume surgeries. Manage a busy, established patient panel, delivering top‑tier medical and surgical ophthalmic care to a dedicated community across central and southern Vermont. Participate in an equitable 1:4 call rotation designed to maintain an excellent work‑life balance with a historically minimal call burden. Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. Successful completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency program. Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Vermont (or immediate eligibility to obtain). Proven clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and a desire to step into an impactful clinical leadership role.
