MAINTENANCE AIDE

Maintenance WorkerPerforms routine unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work in general maintenance of the combined facilities of Alivio Medical Center.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs prescribed cleaning routines of assigned facilities according to daily, weekly, monthly or other regularly scheduled time periodEmpties garbage cansChanges light bulbsMonitors the public spaces within the building during regular clinical hours and responds to maintenance needs including, but not limited to: pick up, cleaning of bathrooms, waiting areas and hallwaysResponds to immediate clean up or maintenance needs identified by staffIdentifies and addresses any observed safety hazards (slip, trip or fall hazards as well as electricalWashes, cleans, and properly stores tools and equipment at the end of shiftReports concerns about public and private waste pickup servicesPerforms daily or seasonal grounds maintenance including street/sidewalk, walkway sweeping, gutter/drain and alley clearing, pick up of trash, snow removal or de-icingReports graffiti and/or cleans off buildingOpens or closes facility as assigned per shiftOpens or locks offices as required by authorized staffAssists Facility Manager with maintenance related projects, etc.Performs other maintenance duties as assigned by supervisorThis position requires compliance with all of Alivio's written standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, all policies and procedures and Corporate Compliance requirements. Incumbent must demonstrate literacy and math skills as required to read and understand work instructions, materials safety data sheets, and OSHA related documentation.Certification/Licensure: - Incumbent may be required to hold a valid Illinois driver's license.Experience: - Non-required for entry level. Two (2) yrs. experience in plumbing, electrical and general maintenance required to assist with building repair functions.Special Training: - N/ADemonstrated Competencies: - Ability to read and follow instructions and utilize good judgment in recognizing and mitigating potentially hazardous situations.
