The Ruth Ellis Center has an opening for an Outpatient Therapist for our Supportive Housing program! If you are a licensed clinician who advocates for the mental health of LGBTQ+ young people, we want to hear from you!

Summary: The Outpatient Therapist – Supportive Housing works closely with the residents of the Clairmount Center. This person will respond to the needs of the residents by facilitating individual therapy. This role will also determine appropriate interventions which may include crisis intervention, mediation, referral for additional services, etc. This role supports the Integrated Health team with a focus on provision of mental health services for youth participating in Ruth Ellis Center's Housing programs.

What You'll Do:

• Conducts client intake sessions including comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis planning, and diagnosis.
• Provides treatment utilizing trauma-informed practices, culturally responsive, restorative justice, harm reduction, positive youth development, and person-centered approaches.
• Coordinates with Health Navigators, Integrated Health team, Case Managers, and Housing Specialists regarding recommendations for client treatment following completion of intake sessions.
• Regularly attends care coordination meetings with Housing department.
• Working knowledge of DSM-5 and provision of diagnosis during intake session.
• Maintains a caseload consisting of youth participating in Ruth Ellis Center Housing programs.
• Utilizes treatment models appropriate for youth experiencing co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders.
• Provides sessions in the youth's home and/or community as appropriate.
• Responds to the needs of the youth by maintaining an appropriate frequency of individual sessions, group sessions, workshops, etc.
• Conducts, examines, and interprets a variety of assessments for individuals, groups, and families.
• Assesses clients' risk of suicidal, homicidal, and self-harming behaviors, and provides crisis intervention as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment according to HIPAA standards.
• Develops treatment plans and prioritizes individual needs of those receiving services, including recommending referrals for appropriate community-based services.
• Provides counseling, skill building, and psychoeducation to carry out person-centered treatment plans to reduce risk, increase well-being, attain person center goals, and if applicable, strengthen family systems.
• Evaluates the progress of individuals on an on-going basis.
• Completes and maintains all paperwork in accordance with Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) guidelines as well as Ruth Ellis Center's policies and procedures.
• Participates as part of an Integrated Health Team.
• Responsible for duties assigned related to grant funded projects. Entering youth data into the Homeless Management Information System and working with the Housing Department to track and report data for grant reporting purposes.
• Develop and maintain a friendly network of referrals in the health care and social services community by becoming familiar with formal and informal services available to clients and families.
• Shares Community Mental Health Program information widely (schools, meetings, stakeholders) with intent to recruit clientele into appropriate services.

What You'll Need:

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university as a licensed clinician.
• Demonstrated experience with general mental health diagnosis and treatment.
• Experience working with individuals and families involved with Department of Health and Human Services, Foster Care, Juvenile Justice, and experience with homelessness.
• Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and positive LGBTQ+ development.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, and Google Suite Software.
