Description The Rigger/Data Collector is responsible for assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or materials, ensuring safety, and collecting data in support of operational testing. This role involves using various rigging tools, verifying loads, and performing data collection tasks as per operational test requirements. Key Responsibilities Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in manufacturing plants or shipyards. Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to the weight and size of the load to be moved. Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps. Attach loads with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hooks. Give directions to Bridge-or-Gantry-Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer to ensure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeakers, or telephones. Verify rigging for loads in support of operational testing. Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. Splice rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle. Direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment into ships. Collect data in support of operational testing. Perform data entry and quality control checks of data. Perform other duties as assigned. General Duties Serve as an assistant operator working under close supervision. Carry a data collection kit and work in a field environment as needed. Requirements Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED. Must hold US Citizenship. Must be eligible to obtain base access for assigned locations. Must have an active security clearance. Common Access Card and Local Area Network account required. Valid State driver's license and car insurance for access to military installations and travel. Must be eligible for and able to obtain a U.S. Government motor vehicle operator's permit for assigned class of vehicle. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Three years of experience as a parachute rigger or similar occupation. Military experience as a rigger is a plus. Ability to travel and work in a field environment. Ability to use tablets for electronic data collection. Ability to splice rope and wire cables.
