About the Role Massachusetts’ Office of Medicaid (MassHealth) is looking for an exceptional Healthcare Data Analyst to join the Analytics Department. The selected candidate will report to the Deputy Director of Analytics and will collaborate closely with other MassHealth units to identify and answer key analytic questions that inform agency policy and operations. The analyst will support the Program Integrity team in safeguarding public resources, collaborating on fraud, waste, and abuse investigations and external audits. SQL and data visualization tools will be used to identify drivers of cost and utilization and potential FWA indicators. The analyst will work independently on multiple concurrent projects. Primary Location 1 Enterprise Drive, Quincy, Massachusetts 02171 Responsibilities Develop and create complex statistical and analytical reports based on user needs. Intake business requirements and translate them into design specifications used to develop reports. Design and manage data‑driven reporting systems that integrate multiple datasets using databases and statistical tools (e.g., SQL). Conduct statistical data analyses and write statistical programming code for software such as R, SAS, or Python; interpret results for business teams, reports, meetings, and other forums. Provide data summary and reporting using tools including SQL code and stored procedures; generate visual output for dashboards or web portals. Lead analyses assessing provider billing patterns to produce audit targets and identify overpayments. Provide technical SME input to vendors performing analytic work and support Data and Analytics colleagues and data consumers with guidance on methodology and tools. Offer technical, data, systems, and methodological expertise for ongoing projects and new initiatives. Support the analytics team through code review and process improvement activities. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SQL and other data manipulation tools. Experience presenting analyses and using visualization software such as Tableau. Experience working with healthcare data and large complex databases. Ability to maintain positive relationships with senior stakeholders. Ability to work with technical, programming, and analytic staff and contractors. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the Massachusetts health care industry and market dynamics is a plus. Ability to prioritize numerous tasks and work under time constraints. Education and License / Certification Minimum Entrance Requirements: At least 2 years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time professional experience in information technology data analytics, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. An associate’s degree may substitute for one year of experience, and a bachelor’s degree or higher may substitute for the required experience.
