Senior Healthcare Data Analyst

To know more about EOHHS, visit About the Role Massachusetts’ Office of Medicaid (MassHealth) is looking for an exceptional Senior Healthcare Data Analyst to join the Analytics Department. The MassHealth Analytics team produces quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform business decisions at MassHealth. The selected candidate will report to the Deputy Director of Analytics and collaborate closely with other MassHealth units to identify and answer key analytic questions to inform agency policy and operations. The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst will work closely with MassHealth’s Program Integrity (PI) team, supporting efforts to safeguard public resources and uphold program accountability. This role will sit at the intersection of data, compliance, and cross‑agency collaboration with a focus on supporting fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) investigations and external audits. This position requires expertise in developing and deploying advanced SQL queries, data modeling, and predictive analytics using industry-leading visualization and statistical tools. Responsibilities Analyze, design, and develop complex analytical data models. Manage delivery and reporting required by requestors, defining specifications and ensuring validity on complex eligibility, enrollment, and claims data, and presenting results clearly to inform policymaking and respond to inquiries. Collaborate with data warehouse staff to develop data models to aid in the use of data across the agency. Lead analyses assessing provider billing patterns to produce audit targets and identify overpayments. Serve as a technical SME, providing input to vendor(s) integrating AI into program integrity operations and to current vendors performing analytic work. Assist in identifying and prioritizing business information needs and defining business benefits of data warehousing; perform data analysis, profiling, and testing. Support the team by overseeing production and maintenance of key analytic assets and code, and providing training and support to junior analysts. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Health Care data and analytic best practices. Familiarity with program integrity efforts and industry practices. Experience working with large datasets (many millions of records). Expertise in SQL and other programming languages. Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau. Experience conducting independent analysis from drafting analytic plans to execution to presenting results. Demonstrated ability to interact with stakeholders and present analyses and help interpret results. Ability to lead and participate in cross‑functional teams. Ability to lead and guide more junior staff in analytical and reporting work. Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail. Ability to problem‑solve and work independently. Knowledge of the Massachusetts health care industry and market dynamics is a plus. Strong QC skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize numerous tasks under time constraints and changing priorities. Minimum Entrance Requirements Applicants must have at least three (3) years of full‑time or equivalent part‑time professional or practical experience in information technology data analytics, or an equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Associate’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience. Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. Master’s degree or higher in a related field may substitute for the required experience. Location and Schedule Primary location: 1 Enterprise Drive, Quincy, Massachusetts 02171. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST. Hybrid work model combining in‑office and work‑from‑home days as needed. Salary Annual salary range: $105,062.88 – $154,288.16.
