Business Manager Surgical Services

Job Overview The Business Manager Surgical Services is responsible for overseeing and managing the administrative business operations functions of their assigned department or division. The Business Manager has a vital role in advancing surgical performance and fostering collaboration between Children's Hospital Colorado and School of Medicine Departments. The primary responsibilities of this management position is to act as a liaison between the administration, surgical departments, and clinical staff. This management role involves overseeing a designated specific surgical practice(s) with a primary focus on supporting faculty members. Responsibilities include developing and implementing faculty business plans, meeting or exceeding anticipated financial performance, managing faculty recruitment and coordination, facilitating alignment between faculty, providers, and team members, overseeing faculty practice management, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing human capital, including talent acquisition, performance management, and team member development. Duties & Responsibilities Collaborates with Surgical Chairs, Clinical Medical Directors, and Service Line Leadership to achieve specific goals in the assigned division(s)/department(s) across ambulatory, perioperative, and inpatient modalities, including, but not limited to, quality, growth, and patient satisfaction. Represents the Department(s) and serves as the Departments' interface with the CHCO leaders. Implements and maintains strategic business plans that support program development, reviews plan progress, and creates quarterly update presentations. Participates actively in the development of strategic business plans for business and clinical operations, including expansion of the organization, model modifications, etc. Plans and facilitates day-to-day activities in an ambulatory and surgical setting to ensure effective patient care, quality results, and client satisfaction, including developing programs, improving processes, etc. Assigns and reviews work, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops team members. Evaluates performance of team members, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues, hires, and fires team members. Identifies resource needs and develops recommendations for meeting needs. Develops, executes, and oversees outreach activities. Serves as the department's main point of contact for cultivating specialist support for Provider outreach initiatives. Maintain and communicate Key Performance Dashboard, including analyzing and reporting volume, financial and operating performance for SoM and CHCO. Responsible for practice optimization, equity across faculty, and patient access while measuring, evaluating, optimizing and implementing faculty time and productivity (wRVUs), number of clinical sessions/shifts, and clinical time versus benchmarks. Monitors the allocation of faculty time to clinical, administrative, research, and education tasks. Maintains provider credentials and oversees the recredentialing process. This includes management, oversight, and tracking on all aspects relating to LOA's, assisting in finding coverage for facility, and assisting with HR process between SoM, CU, and CHCO. Assist and facilitates with identifying the space, equipment, supplies, and support systems required to enable the proper operation of the service. Collects, analyzes, and maintains data for regulatory, performance improvement, and organizational priorities, whether participation is mandated or voluntary. Partners with department leadership on faculty recruitment processes in collaboration with CU SoM. Assists with the onboarding of new surgeons including requesting of block time, clinic space, unique product procurement, clinical equipment requests and sterile processing preference cards. Manages Epic scheduling procedures, ensuring accurate and efficient scheduling for master clinic, surgical, and faculty non-clinic activities. Manages other schedules for operational success. Analyzes data to determine new referral growth and practice opportunities and collaborates with key stakeholder groups to improve billing practices and decrease insurance denials. Supports business relationships with referring providers and practices and generates accurate surgical and ambulatory volume reports, ensuring data integrity and quality. Partners with Ambulatory Services, Appointment Center, PIC Division, SIC Division, Service Lines, Patient Financial Services, Patient Access/ Financial Counseling, Health Information Management, Human Resources, and others to create the best outcome for the patient and family centered experience. Provides reports on patients' satisfaction and reviews and implements customer service initiatives to address opportunities for increased customer satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications Degrees Bachelors' degree in Administration, Health Care Administration, Management, Finance, or related field. Experience Minimum (2) two years of relevant healthcare, business, faculty practice administration or related professional experience. Equivalency Professional experience beyond the minimum qualifications in a related field may substitute for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis A Master's or higher degree in a related field; or completion of a Fellowship program may substitute on a year for year basis for the minimum qualifications of experience Salary Information Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $88,253.00 to $132,379.50 Benefits Information Here, you matter.
