Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

As an Equipment Mechanic, you will perform essential repairs on forklifts and handle maintenance for light to medium truck vehicles and various farm and processing plant equipment. The role involves repairs and servicing in areas such as air conditioning and heating systems, brakes, shocks and struts, steering components, cooling systems, tire mounting and balancing, DTC diagnostics, hydraulic systems, engine tune-ups, and routine preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on forklifts, trucks, and farm equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on diesel engines and mechanical components.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems, brake systems, and cooling systems.
• Diagnose and repair air conditioning and heating systems.
• Utilize stick and MIG welding techniques for equipment repairs.
• Use hand tools for troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment.
• Read and understand automotive wiring schematics.
• Diagnose faults using computerized test equipment on diesel and gas engines.

Essential Skills

• Experience in preventative maintenance and diesel maintenance.
• Proficiency in mechanical and hydraulic system repairs.
• Ability to repair brake systems, cooling systems, and air bags.
• Experience with forklift repair and farm equipment maintenance.
• Knowledge of light and medium truck repairs.
• Competence in using stick and MIG welders.
• Entry-level forklift mechanic experience (1 year required).
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Capability to perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs.
• Experience with field-based heavy equipment and light to medium trucks.
• Bilingual abilities are an advantage.

Work Environment

The work environment is varied, with conditions ranging from dusty outdoor areas to controlled cold storage spaces with temperatures between -20&degree;F and 100&degree;F. The dress code is casual, requiring boots, jeans, and a maintenance shirt. Shifts are from 6AM to 2:30PM, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday shifts from 5AM to 1:30PM as needed

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BAKERSFIELD, CA.

The pay range for this position is $21.35 - $21.35/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
