HCC Coding Specialist (Temporary, Part Time)

Job Summary Risk Adjustment Coding Specialists are an important part of the HCC Coding Team at Virtix Health. The team member reviews medical records to abstract ICD-10 codes that map to HCCs, RxHCCs, and ESRD models, following Medicare, ICD-10-CM guidelines and client specific requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Review, analyze, and code patient medical records based on client specific guidelines. Use encoder software with access to AHA Coding Clinic. Follow ICD-10-CM Coding Guidelines and interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment. Follow Risk Adjustment Data Abstraction Rules. Ensure compliance with privacy and security rules and protect all company confidential information. Maintain a quality score of 95% or higher and ongoing productivity levels as required. Coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines. May be required to perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 6 months recent retrospective HCC coding experience plus 1 year additional coding experience. A valid AAPC or AHIMA coding credential (CPC, CRC, COC, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P). Apprenticeship designations not accepted. Proficient with EMRs, billing systems, and abstraction platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; able to perform basic formulas and manage emails. Reliable phone and internet connection; independent work from home. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. WORK LOCATION & HOURS Remote / work from home within the United States. Part-time: 20-29 hours per week, with no less than 4-hour blocks between 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM EST. Flexible hours after quality and productivity goals are met. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regular eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment; ability to work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day with constant interruptions; occasional lifting of material up to 20 lbs; potential for elevated stress during periods of increased activity. #J-18808-Ljbffr
