Controller

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a Critical Access Hospital . This leadership role is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting support, payroll, accounts payable, regulatory compliance, and audit coordination while ensuring the organization's financial integrity and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Oversee accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and accounting operations. Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes. Prepare and review financial statements and management reports. Coordinate annual audits and regulatory reporting. Assist with operating and capital budget preparation. Oversee Medicare Cost Reports, DSH audits, and IRS Form 990 filings. Monitor financial performance, conduct variance analysis, and support forecasting. Ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare regulations, and internal controls. Supervise and mentor accounting staff.Partner with leadership to improve financial and operational performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting. Experience with audits and regulatory reporting. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Controller or Assistant Controller experience in a hospital setting. Critical Access Hospital experience.
