Every Young Moms Together success story is a young mother's story: a teenager who arrives unsure and, years later, leaves with her diploma, her baby, and a future she built and a community that showed up for her. The Director of Client Care is the leader who ensures the most basic promise is kept: a safe, stable place to live. This role leads Young Moms Together's stable housing programming under Priority One of the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, from licensed residential care to individualized, community-based living and rental support programs.
In practical terms, this role oversees the day-to-day functioning, safety, and quality of every housing site and housing model; supervises a team of up to ten (10) direct-care staff; owns the housing program budget, policies, standards, and staffing plans; and monitors the provision and quality of services to participants to ensure they are family centered, strengths based, trauma informed, culturally responsive, and fully compliant with licensing requirements. The Director completes participant assessments, supports individualized care plans, audits case records, and responds to participant feedback and complaints.
The Director is also Young Moms Together's primary relationship manager with the South Carolina Department of Social Services managing the referrals, placements, contracts, and licensing relationships that bring young families into care, and partnering with the Director of Operations to follow all licensing and compliance across all housing programs, including applications, renewals, inspections, audits, and corrective action. The role coordinates with every other part of the organization so that housing is never a separate program but the foundation for a young family's whole journey.
Role Responsibilities
Stable Housing Program Leadership (30%)
- Leads the implementation of all stable housing programming under Priority One of the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, from licensed residential care to individualized, community-based housing arrangements.

- Translates the strategic plan's housing goals into operational plans, staffing models, program budgets, and measurable outcomes
- Advances YMT's evolution from congregate care toward a coordinated, youth-centered ecosystem of individualized, community-based housing
- Establishes and monitors program standards, policies, and procedures for stable housing, ensuring a consistent standard of care across all sites, shifts, and programs.
- Tracks housing program performance against the strategic plan's key performance indicators and reports progress, barriers, and recommendations to agency leadership.
- Manages the housing program budget, including approving expenses and procurement in accordance with agency policy and program guidelines.
Case Oversight and Cross-Program Coordination (40%)
- Coordinates with all other aspects of YMT's work, partnering closely with Success Coach team and program staff across education and employment, life skills and family support, and clinical services so that each young family receives seamless, coordinated support.
- Completes initial assessments with participants across our service array and 6-month follow-up assessments; supports execution of individualized care plans and monitors the provision of services, including medical and behavioral health services.
- Assists Success Coaches and direct-care staff with complex situations and in advocating on behalf of youth; engages and observes participants to assess and evaluate care plans and the provision of services.
- Reviews and audits case records; ensures participant satisfaction across the service array and accepts and acts upon complaints.
- Serves a rotational on-call and back-up schedule for emergency situations involving the need to be available on-site at various program locations after hours.
- Participates in performance and quality improvement activities to ensure positive measurable outcomes for participants in alignment with YMT's strategic priorities; represents YMT in community partnerships and activities as assigned by the Executive Director; performs other duties as assigned.
DSS Partnership, Licensing and Compliance (10%)
- Serves as YMT's primary relationship manager with the SC Department of Social Services (DSS) and other regulatory and licensing bodies, maintaining positive, productive working relationships that support referrals, placements, and partnership goals.
- Partners with Director of Operations on licensing and compliance across all housing programming
- Leads licensing applications, renewals, inspections, and audits by preparing the facility, staff, and documentation required, and responding to findings with timely corrective action.
- Applies a working understanding of licensing rules and compliance requirements to day-to-day program decisions, keeping agency leadership informed of regulatory changes and their implications for operations and budgeting.
- Partners with DSS on contracts, service agreements, placements, and program reporting, ensuring YMT meets all contractual and regulatory obligations.
Staff Supervision and Coaching (20%)
- Establishes, maintains, and reinforces organizational and professional social service expectations, policies, standards, and practices across the housing team.
- Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates direct-care staff (up to ten (10) staff) and social work interns, ensuring adequate staffing, orientation, and ongoing skill development.
- Keeps up to date on child welfare and stable-housing best-practice models and available community resources, and participates in relevant training to assist direct-care staff with skill-building.
- Instructs direct-care staff on trauma-informed practices and techniques, modeling YMT's coaching culture.
- Monitors, trains, and evaluates the performance of direct-care and housing staff, building a team culture of accountability, learning, and shared ownership.
