Sr Prin Human Factors Des Eng

This role involves applying human‑centered design principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human‑machine systems and products, developing research methodologies and analysis plans, and collaborating with design engineers to optimize user experience. Responsibilities Apply human‑centered principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human‑machine systems and products. Develop and implement research methodologies and both qualitative and quantitative analysis plans to test and evaluate new concepts and developmental prototypes in all phases of product development. Design and execute tests to simulate product use for user‑needs investigation, concept exploration/selection/refinement, requirements development, use‑related risk identification, and formal usability validation with intended users. Collaborate with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements, ensuring optimized human‑machine interfaces and overall user experience. Identify and analyze technological problems or risks; perform theoretical human‑factors investigations and develop research and analysis plans to inform design direction of new product development. Technical Specialist Career Stream Focus on advancing existing technology or introducing new technologies and therapies. Formulate, deliver, and/or manage assigned projects, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve desired results. Mentor colleagues or direct the work of lower‑level professionals. Spend majority of time delivering R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies from design to implementation while adhering to policies and using specialized knowledge and skills. Communication & Influence : Interact with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels; conduct briefings with senior leaders and negotiate to reach agreement. Leadership & Talent Management : Provide guidance, coaching, and training to employees; manage large, moderately complex initiatives involving cross‑functional teams. Required Knowledge and Experience Baccalaureate degree and minimum 10 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with minimum 8 years relevant experience OR PhD with 6 years relevant experience. For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies 8C.F.R. §214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
