Company Name: ASTEMO AMERICAS, INC. Job Summary Under the supervision of the Design Engineering Manager, support technology development for xEV inverters at Astemo America. Responsible for understanding customer system requirements and working with a global engineering team to design and develop inverter/power control units that meet customer needs. The role has a hybrid work structure. Job Responsibilities Lead and/or support mechanical packaging development activities for new xEV inverter business in Astemo Americas. Plan and manage activities for multiple projects to ensure goals are achieved within prescribed timeframes. Receive, evaluate, and utilize customer engineering requirements, working with the global team to provide optimal inverter designs. Facilitate accurate and timely inverter program technical communication between OEM customers and the US/Japan design teams, Astemo manufacturing sites, and suppliers. Participate in design, improvement, performance validation, and production launch activities for xEV inverters across automotive powertrain product applications. Create and oversee 3‑D CAD, 2‑D drawings, CAE, and other technical information/specifications needed for product design. Provide on‑site support at internal and external inverter manufacturing sites during sample and mass production. Support product pricing, quoting, and cost investigation activities. Prepare technical data/information documents using industry‑standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, CAD, CAE, etc.). Support product validation testing, prototype build and test, and other engineering deliverables in the development phase. Lead or support post‑SORP VEC activities to reduce production costs and improve quality. Qualifications Education: Minimum BSME. Minimum 5 years practical experience designing automotive components. Minimum 3 years product experience with traction inverters; preferred experience with inverter & motor integrated e‑axle design. Experience with 3‑D CAD and 2‑D drawing creation. Mechanical CAE experience (thermal, structural, etc.) with correlation verification between CAE results and measurements. Understanding of electrified vehicle systems and inverter/motor integration. Experience interfacing with customers and suppliers to explain technical documents. Experience with tolerance stack‑ups, GD&T, DFMEA, DRBFM, DFSS. High‑level technical problem‑solving and interpersonal skills. Project management experience from concept through execution. Preferred: MSME, 7 years of automotive design experience, knowledge of the entire E‑driver system, basic electrical engineering knowledge, proficiency with SolidWorks or CATIA, quotation experience, fluency in English and Japanese. Working Conditions Physical demands: sit or stand for long periods; occasionally lift up to 40 pounds; carrying equipment up stairs. Occasional overtime expected. Travel: up to 20% domestic and international travel; requires valid driver’s license.
