Maintenance Technician

Compensation: $22.47 Per Hour plus benefits. Qualifications

• Training in a skilled trade such as HVAC, electrical, or plumbing sufficient to perform assigned duties and troubleshoot/diagnose system malfunctions
• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in the maintenance and operations of school district facilities
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Ability to perform assigned duties in challenging conditions that may require exposure to the elements, climbing a ladder, or crawling in confined spaces
• Valid Illinois Driver's License
• Alternatives to the above requirements as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
• Previous maintenance experience preferred

General Description

To provide for a safe and functional environment that is conducive to learning by performing various skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the operation and maintenance of school buildings and grounds as directed by the Director and Assistant Director of Operations.

Specific Responsibilities

• Performs general repair and maintenance tasks pertaining to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire, burglar, and other building systems as assigned
• Conducts periodic maintenance inspections according to assigned schedule
• Monitors all work orders and responds to them in a timely manner, per District procedure
• Assists with the assembly and maintenance of fixtures, furniture, and equipment
• Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and equipment
• Ensures that equipment, work areas, and vehicles are neat, clean, and orderly; and promptly reports damage and/or hazards to the Director of Operations or designee
• Performs emergency repairs and cleaning as assigned
• Participates in snow removal efforts as assigned
• Utilizes safe work practices, and properly utilizes personal protective equipment when necessary
• Performs other related duties as assigned
