The Administrative Specialist position is a full-time position performing administrative duties at the direction of the Parks and Recreation Manager helping the general public, support to other departments, bookkeeping and budgetary functions, and organization support to the Parks and Recreation divisions. This position may provide back-up support to the Director of Public Works as required. Must perform specialized tasks or computer-based applications unique to their assigned area or other areas within the department.

Education: Associates degree in business administration, computer science, accounting, or related field. A combination of experience and education may be considered.

Experience: Minimum of four years progressive experience in government, business, or administration. Knowledge of administrative duties include familiarity with a variety of word processing, spreadsheet, database and specialized software packages, various filing systems and overall office management.

License & Certification: Must have a valid vehicle operator's license and satisfactory driving records in accordance with City policy.


Essential Functions: Examples of duties may include but are not limited to: Assist the Parks and Recreation divisions with tasks pertaining to accounting, invoicing, payment processing, etc. as required; Serves as division receptionist and point of contact for Parks and Recreation. Performs clerical, administrative, and accounting duties as required, including but not limited to maintaining schedules, screening calls, customer interaction, mail distribution, record and files maintenance, telephone reception; Other duties as assigned.
