This position will provide advice and consultation on regulatory and compliance issues to ensure proper evaluation, investigation and resolution. The Compliance Director/Associate General Counsel will collaborate with corporate management to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; and will be responsible for the development and management of compliance effectiveness, tracking and reporting. This position will also provide legal services to Doyon, Limited and its subsidiaries with an emphasis on personnel and human relations issues.Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:COMPLIANCE/RISK MANAGEMENTPromote Doyon’s culture of integrity that encourages ethical conductProvide strategic direction and oversight for Doyon’s compliance programDirect and manage compliance activities related ethics, conflict of interest, and regulatory requirementsPartner with business leaders to identify, assess and prioritize compliance risks and develop recommendations for risk reductionDesign, implement, and maintain, policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, contractual and regulatory requirementsPrepare appropriate policy and process changes to ensure compliance with the law and contract requirementsCollaborate with other departments (Legal, Human Resources, Finance, and Information Technology) to direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolutionConduct compliance audits, assessments, and monitoring activities across Doyon and its subsidiariesDevelop, implement, and oversee compliance communication, education and training programASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSELProvide legal advice, guidance, and consultation to internal clients on personnel, human relations, labor relations, employment, and other corporate mattersBalance legal services responsibilities with compliance program leadership and oversightRECORDS MANAGEMENTDirect and Oversee Doyon’s Corporate Records Management programSupervise records management employeesProvide records management guidance and support to subsidiary human resources departmentsGENERALDevelop and manage compliance budgetSigning authority for department expendituresDirect, supervise, mentor and evaluate legal administrative staffOther duties as assignedOccasional travel is requiredDOYON LIMITED CORE COMPETENCIES:Commitment to Excellence – Identifies what needs to be done and takes action to achieve a standard of excellence beyond job expectations.Corporate Values - Assesses and quantifies risks, then takes measures to eliminate, mitigate, monitor, and control them.SUPERVISION:This position supervises Legal Administrative employees.QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to practice law in the State of AlaskaMinimum 10-years professional level experience in compliance management, personnel law, human resources, employment law, labor relations or related fieldMinimum 2-years direct supervisor experiencePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)Experience & knowledge of personnel, labor, and employee relations mattersExperience & knowledge of in-house client legal servicesWORKING ENVIRONMENT: Most work is performed in a professional office setting with various people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is generally sedentary, requiring routine walking, standing, bending, and carrying items weighing less than forty pounds.
