Certified Surgical Technologist II - West Campus

In this position, you willhandle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure,assistingthe physician whileperforming related patient care duties in anage-appropriatemanner as assigned by the circulating nurse (RN). Thinkyou’vegot what it takes? Job Duties & Responsibilities Performs patient care related duties. Prepares andassistswith the preparation of the operating room according to the needs and age appropriateness of thepatient and the surgical procedure asevidencedby the following but not limitedtoknowledge of surgical pathology asrelated to the planned surgical intervention; knowledge of allergies (awareness ofhigh-riskgroups for latex allergy);knowledge and preparation of special equipment i.e., implants, prostheses, instrumentation per procedure/preference,and medications. Applies knowledge of surgical procedure byanticipatingthe surgeon's needs, having supplies opened or available in a cost-effective manner asobservedby the circulating nurse/nurse manager.Seeks the circulating nurse'sassistanceand references the preference card when unable to decide about opening versus readily available. Attends andparticipatesinin-servicesand other continuing education opportunities tomaintainprofessional development. Maintainscorrectcount of sponges, needles, and instruments according to the established policy and procedure 100% ofthe time asobservedby the circulating nurse. Assistsin the care and labeling of specimens 100% of the time asobservedby the circulating nurse. Acknowledges the importance of patient safety byparticipatingin the proper handling of medications within the sterilefield. Prepares O.R. equipment and supplies while performing patientcare-relatedduties in anage-appropriatemanner. Demonstrateseffective time management skills. Cares for one or more of the following agegroups routinely: Neonates, Infants, Toddler,Preschool Age, School Age, Adolescent, and Adult. As part of our commitment tomaintaininga safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates willbe requiredto undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
