Step into a rewarding opportunity as an Exceptional Children Teacher supporting an elementary separate setting classroom dedicated to empowering students with unique learning needs. Located near Mooresville, NC, this contract position invites you to make a meaningful difference every day within a supportive educational environment.
You’ll guide a class of 10 students alongside two talented teaching assistants, fostering academic and social growth in a structured, inclusive setting. The school day runs from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, allowing you to establish a strong routine and a positive, nurturing classroom culture.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Experience working within a separate setting or specialized classroom is a plus
- Background with IEP development, implementation, and related documentation
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, parents, and other specialists
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and classroom management skills
- Passion for supporting students with diverse needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and adapt lesson plans for individual learning objectives
- Manage, review, and document IEPs and student progress
- Employ evidence-based instructional strategies to promote student growth
- Lead and collaborate with your team of teaching assistants
- Foster a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment
- Communicate progress with families and educational partners
