Buyer

International Minerals Carlsbad LLC is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Buyer to support daily purchasing and procurement activities. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining purchase orders, validating purchasing information, communicating with suppliers, and helping ensure materials and services are ordered accurately and delivered on time.

The ideal candidate has two to three years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, inventory, or a related administrative function. This opportunity is well suited for an early-career procurement professional who wants to strengthen their purchasing experience within an industrial environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Create, process, update, and track purchase orders from the initial request through completion.
• Accurately enter and maintain supplier, pricing, quantity, delivery, and purchasing information.
• Review purchase requisitions and purchase orders for completeness, accuracy, and proper authorization.
• Request and organize supplier quotes and assist with price, availability, lead-time, and supplier comparisons.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, order confirmations, product availability, delivery schedules, and outstanding orders.
• Monitor open purchase orders and proactively follow up on delayed or incomplete deliveries.
• Maintain professional working relationships with suppliers, internal clients, and operational stakeholders.
• Investigate and assist with resolving discrepancies involving purchase orders, invoices, pricing, quantities, or deliveries.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Operations, Accounting, Inventory, Maintenance, and other departments to support purchasing requirements.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, reports, electronic files, and supporting documentation.
• Use Microsoft Excel to organize, track, review, and report purchasing data.
• Prepare purchasing correspondence, documentation, and related materials using Microsoft Word.
• Identify missing information, potential errors, or supply issues and follow through until they are resolved.
• Prioritize multiple purchasing requests and changing operational needs while maintaining accuracy.
• Support procurement reporting, vendor record maintenance, and other purchasing activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two to three years of relevant experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials management, inventory, order processing, or a related administrative function.
• Experience creating, processing, updating, or maintaining purchase orders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Strong data-entry and keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work confidently with pricing, quantities, dates, delivery information, and other detailed purchasing data.
• Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and changing business priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Professional customer service skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and resolve routine purchasing issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using IBM Maximo.
• Experience working with an enterprise resource planning, procurement, inventory, or materials-management system.
• Purchasing or procurement experience within mining, manufacturing, construction, energy, utilities, or another industrial environment.
• Experience obtaining supplier quotes and comparing pricing, availability, and delivery terms.

Work Environment

This position supports purchasing activities within an active industrial organization. The Buyer must be comfortable coordinating across departments, responding to changing operational priorities, and communicating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to help maintain the timely flow of materials and services.
