Location: Thousand Oaks. Basic Function Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for providing academic instruction to students in assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Representative Duties Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop students’ cognitive and communication skills through assignments and activities in one‑on‑one, classroom, and distance‑mediated settings. Advise students on programs of study, transfer options, lifelong learning resources, and study skills; refer students to support services and other professionals as appropriate. Observe and evaluate student performance relative to course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner. Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and learning outcomes to maximize student learning in alignment with department and university mission. Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, academic progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; prepare and submit related data and reports in a timely manner. Evaluate and select instructional materials (textbooks, manuals, software, tools) with discipline faculty; order materials through campus bookstore procedures to ensure timely delivery. Perform related duties as assigned. Knowledge Of Current theory and practice within the discipline, specifically User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) Design. Principles and best practices of effective teaching. Ability To Demonstrate thorough knowledge of UI/UX Design. Deliver course curricula accommodating diverse learning styles. Show sensitivity to students’ diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Show sensitivity to the needs of students with disabilities. Integrate current and emerging instructional technologies. Maintain professional standards that protect student confidentiality. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with tact, patience, and courtesy. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a master’s degree from a recognized graduate institution or equivalent experience and professional recognition. Preferred Qualifications None. Physical Abilities Manual dexterity, speaking, standing or sitting for extended periods, and light lifting and reaching as needed in an indoor classroom environment. Working Environment Indoor classroom setting; may involve visiting various campus sites. Hiring Range $32.00 – $34.50 per hour.
