Can you diagnose an HVAC system  and handle a plumbing service call?

Then you're exactly the kind of technician we're looking for.

Blue Collars Plumbing & HVAC is growing our Columbia operation, and we're looking for a unique technician who is truly comfortable in  both trades .

This is not an HVAC position where plumbing experience is a "plus."

And it's not a plumbing position where knowing a little HVAC gets you bonus points.

You need to be able to run both.

We're looking for someone who can be dispatched to an HVAC no-cool in the morning, diagnose and repair the system, then handle a plumbing leak, water heater, fixture, or other service call that afternoon.

If you like variety, know how to troubleshoot, and take pride in being the person who can figure things out, this could be a great fit.

Your Day Might Look Like This

One day could include:

• Diagnosing a no-cool
• Troubleshooting an electrical or control issue
• Replacing an HVAC component
• Performing HVAC preventative maintenance
• Repairing a leaking water line
• Diagnosing a water heater
• Replacing a plumbing fixture
• Troubleshooting a drain or plumbing issue

The next day could be completely different.

That's the point.

We're looking for a  well-rounded service technician , not someone limited to one type of call.

On the HVAC Side, You Should Be Comfortable With

• Residential and light commercial HVAC service
• Split systems
• Package units
• Heat pumps
• Rooftop units
• Air handlers
• Mini-splits
• Electrical troubleshooting
• Controls and low-voltage diagnostics
• Airflow issues
• Preventative maintenance
• System diagnostics and repair

You should be capable of independently diagnosing HVAC problems—not simply changing parts.

On the Plumbing Side, You Should Be Comfortable With

• General plumbing service and repair
• Water heaters
• Water leaks
• Water line repairs
• Faucets and fixtures
• Toilets
• Drain and sewer issues
• Basic piping repairs and replacements
• Diagnosing plumbing problems
• Communicating repair options to customers

We're not necessarily looking for a master plumber.

We  are looking for someone who can confidently run everyday plumbing service calls without needing someone else to finish the job.

This Position Is for the Technician Who Likes Knowing More

Maybe you started in HVAC and picked up plumbing along the way.

Maybe you've worked for a company where technicians were expected to know both.

Maybe you're simply the person who never liked saying:

"That's not my trade."

That's the mentality we're looking for.

What We're Looking For

• Strong HVAC service and diagnostic experience
• Plumbing service experience
• EPA Certification
• Ability to independently troubleshoot HVAC systems
• Ability to independently complete common plumbing service calls
• Strong electrical diagnostic skills
• Professional customer communication
• Valid driver's license
• Dependability and accountability
• A willingness to continue learning both trades

Experience in BOTH HVAC and plumbing is required for this position.
