As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you’ll dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. Our Software Engineers are responsible for designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality. You'll develop software documentation and test procedures, troubleshoot software problems, and communicate with internal customers to understand project requirements. As part of our team, you'll contribute your expertise in intricate systems, deciphering code, and anticipating software behaviors to ensure Applied remains the leader in the semiconductor and display sectors.Role Responsibilities: Provide Reliability and Performance Engineering support for multiple Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) products. These products are used in many of world's largest semiconductor fabs.Work with subject matter experts and AI tools to automate and improve reliability engineering test methodologies and analysisConduct root cause analysis of a variety of moderately difficult software problems; propose solutions to engineering and establish preventive measuresPerform proof of concepts on new software technologiesDevelop software documentation and test proceduresCommunicate effectively with internal and external customersMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field like software engineering, mathematics with software experience, or any related field2–4 years of related experienceExcellent working experience in Linux and/or Windows, databasesWorking experience in scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, PowerShell.Prior experience in enterprise distributed applicationsExperience in .NET, Kubernetes are desired but not requiredGood interpersonal and communication skills to communicate ideas and results to stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications: Strong conceptual knowledge of software engineering and a willingness to learn semiconductor manufacturing software and new technologiesPrior experience in using AI to solve software systems related problemsAdditional InformationTime Type:Full timeEmployee Type:Assignee / RegularTravel:Yes, 10% of the TimeRelocation Eligible:YesThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
