Reports To: Program Director

OVERVIEW
Project Diakonia provides employment support, vocational training, and career navigation services to underserved young adults (ages 16–24). The Youth Success Coach helps empower participants toward successful adulthood by reinforcing workplace behaviors, developing professional and workplace skills, and fostering the habits necessary for long-term employment and personal success.

Working under the direction of the Program Director and in close collaboration with the Lead Instructor, the Youth Success Coach serves as a consistent mentor and positive adult presence in the classroom. This position focuses on student engagement, accountability, and workforce readiness while helping maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

• ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate commitment to Project Diakonia's mission and values.

• Serve young adults with dignity, accountability, and excellence.
• Serve as the primary steward of classroom culture by reinforcing Project Diakonia’s expectations for professionalism, respect, accountability, and personal responsibility.
• Build trusting relationships that encourage accountability, growth, and consistent participation.
• Coach participants in professional work habits, including punctuality, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and personal responsibility.
• Help maintain a structured, respectful classroom environment that promotes learning and engagement.
• Reinforce safety standards while deferring all technical instruction and safety decisions to the Lead Instructor.
• Collaborate with the Lead Instructor to support classroom flow, instructional activities, and student success.
• Assist with classroom setup, cleanup, organization, and tool accountability.
• Identify participants who may need additional support and communicate concerns to the Program Team.
• Support student attendance, participation, and successful completion of the program.
• Recognize and celebrate student growth, milestones, and demonstrations of professional workplace behavior.
• Maintain accurate and timely participant documentation and assigned reports.

• Students successfully complete the program better prepared for employment and long-term success.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, teaching, or working with young adults, preferably those facing barriers to employment or education.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to establish healthy boundaries while building meaningful relationships.
• Ability to encourage accountability with empathy, consistency, and professionalism.
• Comfortable working in both classroom and light construction training environments.
• OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain shortly after hire).
• Construction experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to remain calm and professional during difficult conversations and behavioral challenges.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive participant information.

COMPENSATION

• Determined based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work in both classroom and light construction training environments.
• Ability to stand and move throughout instructional periods.
• Ability to assist with classroom setup and lift up to 50 pounds.

HOURS & OPPORTUNITY

• Part-time: Monday - Wednesday, 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM (15 hours/week).
• Growth: This position has the potential to convert to full-time based on organizational needs and performance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Pay Range: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Benefits: In accordance with Colorado law, part-time employees accrue paid sick leave under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA) at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. This position is also covered under the Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program.
